India student’s community in everywhere in the world and every year, thousands of students go to different countries for attaining education in world leading universities. Indians are one of the largest scholarship holders in the world and every leading country in research and innovation always takes into account the Indian students in shaping their education policies.

United States is the favorite destination for the Indian students and US embassy in India receives thousands of applications and Indian government is pursuing the US government for increasing the visa quota for the Indians.

Recently, an official data has been released by United States that shows that overall number of international students seeking to get education in United States has been increased.

The data is published by the SEVIS –that is a quarterly report on the trend of foreign students coming for education and prepared by the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP).

Sevis is a part of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). According to the data of SEVIS, the Indian students in US are nearly two hundred thousand.

The report also says that in the past year, 31 % increase has been seen in the internal student’s entrance in US. The report also said that in 2015, the Indian students were nearly 150,000 - the number has been reached to 200,000. As per the data, 87% of Indian students are enrolled in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

From China, 67% students are pursuing mathematics and statics.

The repost says that more stem students are for India. The best universities that are the destinations for international students are New York University, University of southern California, University of Illinois, Columbia University and northeastern University.

In this each university, 10,000 international students took admission. The data also revealed that 77 % international students came from Asian countries.

The top countries for where the students applied and came for study are China, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico.

On aspect of the report is really encouraging that how much the talent Indian students have and their interest in science and technology. After the study, most of the Indian students took part in leading research organization to play their part in the progress of science and technology.

On the other side, India must consider such number of students going for studying in other universities - in this way; the intelligent elite have flown to US. It is also the loss for India, who did not provide them adequate resources and career opportunities to remain in country.
It is like a brain drain from which India is suffering.
