West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, in short which is also commonly known as WBSCTE. After careful consideration of the approval, the government in the Technical Education and Training Department moved a Bill before the judicial assembly for setting-up a Statutory Council of technical education. West Bengal State Council of Technical Education took confinement as a Legal body under West Bengal act of the year 1995.

The Council started its full-fledged activities as a Legal body after Gazette notification in the month of June.
